The session was chaired by Mr. S. Sathyam, I.A.S.(Retd.), formerly member secretary of the National Commission for the Disabled and co-chaired by Mr. Mohan Verghese Chunkanth, I.A.S., Special Commissioner for the Disabled, Government of Tamil Nadu.

Mr. S Sathyam, I.A.S. (Retd.), Chairperson, Mr. Mohan Verghese Chunkath, Co-chair, with speakers Dr. Jayanthi Narayan, NIMH, Mrs. Aloka Guha, National Trust, Dr. J P Singh, RCI, Ms. Aiko Akiyama, UNESCAP and Mr. T D Dhariyal, DC for Persons with Disability on Session V.

Ms. Aiko Akiyama, Project Expert on Disability, UNESCAP spoke about the implementation of the Biwako Millenium Framework for action in the Asian- Pacific region.

Dr. J.P. Singh, Member Secretary, Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi, discussed about the various training programmes of the RCI.

Ms. Aloka Guha, Chairperson, National Trust, spoke about the implementation of the various programmes of the National Trust.

Mr. T.D. Dhariyal, Deputy Commissioner for the Persons with Disability, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi, spoke about the PWD Act 1995 and its implementation.

Dr. Jayanthi Narayan, NIMH, Secunderabad, spoke about the activities of the NIMH in fulfillment of its role in various areas across the nation.
