Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children convened an International Conference on Early Intervention in Mental Retardation, on December 10th-11th, 2004, at Chennai.

The International Conference was primarily aimed at bringing together all concerned with the disability of mental retardation, from prevention to management, public awareness to government policy and thereby facilitate further planning of action, in order to meet the challenges currently faced.

Apart from the Conference, the other events in the orbit during this period included:

Preconference workshops, spread over two days- December 8th and 9th, 2004
An exhibition of the various teaching aids used by Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children in the Upanayan Early Intervention programme.
A unique cultural programme presented by the children, parents and teachers of Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional children, to commemorate its 15th anniversary
