Training at the Centre is based on “Upanayan” - Early Intervention Programme, developed indigenously by an inter-disciplinary team of experts from various specialties such as, Developmental Psychology, Neo-Natology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Special Education and Information Technology. Training at the centre is structured in two phases

  • The first phase of the Early Intervention programme caters to the training of children from birth to age two, and
  • The second phase caters to the training of children from age two + to six.

Following the training at the Centre, the children move on to other associated training centres for advanced special education, training and care appropriate to their age. [Vijay Human Services, Chennai is one such centre]

The training provided at MNC is both centre-based and home based. Parental involvement in the development and training of the children and in their own empowerment form the foundation of the training programme at MNC. Under the guidance of special educators, the parents are given ‘hands on training in the assessment and programming of their children as well as the children of all other parents. Parents are trained systematically to function as co-teachers and co-therapists of the children. In addition they are also involved in the planning of all the extra curricular activities of the centre.
